King’s Myeloma Team celebrates National Clinical Service Excellence Award

Trustees Michael Douglas and Natalie Reilly were delighted to attend a special reception on Monday 2 March celebrating the outstanding work of the myeloma team at King’s. The team has been awarded the Myeloma UK Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) Accreditation, recognising the high standard of care and support they provide to patients.
The accreditation highlights the dedication of the clinical teams across King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, who care for patients at both King’s College Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital.
Patients treated at these hospitals benefit from access to a wide range of clinical trials, offering opportunities to receive innovative myeloma treatments, including therapies not yet widely available. Eligible patients can join clinical trials at either site, providing additional options and hope for those living with this complex blood cancer.
The Chartwell Cancer Trust has been proud to support this work by funding the South-East Myeloma Support Group for the past two years. The group meets quarterly and welcomes patients from both King’s College Hospital and the Princess Royal University Hospital.
These meetings provide patients with valuable opportunities to hear from experts through Q&A sessions, learn about the latest research developments, and connect with others who are going through similar experiences. Feedback from attendees has been extremely positive, highlighting how important peer support and access to reliable information can be for people living with myeloma.
Congratulations to the entire myeloma team for this well-deserved recognition and for their continued dedication to improving care for patients.
