THE CHARTWELL CHARITIES NEWS

What a wonderful Christmas for our Chartwell children

The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust received an abundance of support over the Christmas period from donated Christmas Gifts to Christmas parties and, of course, our beloved Panto!

XMAS GIFTS GALORE

Thanks to the amazing generosity from The Glades Shopping Centre, St James The Great RC Church, The Volunteer Pub, The Swan, Limpsfield Combustion Engineering, Autoflame and Paula Cook, Shelley and Theresa for donating such a stunning array of Xmas gifts and goodies for the oncology children in our Childhood Cancer Support Groups and for the Paediatric Oncology Wards we support. We were able to give every single child from babies to teens a lovely gift, which always means so much to the children and their families during this festive period.

We were overwhelmed with the incredible generosity of Bromley shoppers as we collected over 460 gifts throughout December, donated to The Giving Tree. Receiving so many meant that we could also fully stock the neutropenic cupboards with toys and games on the ward, for sole use of the young oncology patients as well as replenish the treasure baskets, gifts given out to the children when they are having to endure such difficult and often traumatic treatment.

A VISIT TO MR & MRS SANTA

The oncology children also had a great time when they were invited to a private visit to meet Santa and Mrs Claus in The Glades, Bromley on the 12th December. The children absolutely loved this event and thank you to The Glades.

PANTO…. OH YES THEY DID

We were thrilled to be able to take the children to panto again.

The Tiger Ward Childhood Cancer Support Group enjoyed an afternoon of laughter and fun at the Greenwich Theatre, London watching The Queen of Hearts, along with ice-cream and treats. We also organised a fabulous Christmas party at Welling United Football Club on Sunday 12th December. The club generously donated their venue, DJ and provided the party food! The oncology children and families had a wonderful time, entertained by the lovely Angie, The Studio Chislehurst. Father Christmas paid them a surprise visit too!

Our support groups also had an amazing time at the Churchill Theatre Bromley to watch a dazzling performance of Sleeping Beauty. Before the show, we laid on a Christmas party at the Theatre where Karen from Krazy K Parties entertained everyone. The children got a special shout out, and star cast member, Bonnie Langford recorded a personal video message just for them!
