Final appeal to protect inpatient haematology cancer care at PRUH

This week marks the final article in our 13-week News Shopper series. Across this series, we have heard from patients, families, clinicians, volunteers and supporters. Together, their stories have highlighted the value of specialist local care close to home, the importance of family presence, the hidden burdens that patients and families carry, and the difference practical support can make when life is turned upside down by cancer.
We are grateful to everyone who has contributed. Their stories remind us why this fight matters – and why continued community support is so important.
This week, our founder Michael Douglas brings the series to a close with a final appeal: help us protect dedicated inpatient haematology cancer care at PRUH.
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is preparing revised proposals that would remove inpatient haematology cancer care from PRUH and centralise it at Denmark Hill. We believe this would be a dangerous and deeply damaging decision for local patients and families.
31,315 people have already signed the petition.
Now we are asking our community to keep speaking up. If you have not yet added your name, please do so today. We are also urging local residents to write to their MP and councillors, asking them to support the retention of inpatient haematology cancer care at PRUH.
Please read Michael’s final appeal, sign the petition, and consider contacting your MP and local councillors.
