THE CHARTWELL CHARITIES NEWS

Community speaks out with force against threats to the Chartwell in-patient unit, PRUH

Thanks to the 22,845 petition signatories who have shown their support and shared moving, personal accounts – proof of how vital safe, specialist care close to home is for people living with cancer.

Public pressure is now moving the conversation. Concerns have been escalated to the KCH Trust’s Patient Governors, Bromley Council is applying scrutiny, visit Council meetings live https://youtu.be/YBy5V9R8y9U (2:23) and holding the King’s Trust to account for not following their own due processes, https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/joint-working-protocol-december-2017.pdf  the first principal being “the needs of people using services must be at the heart of everything we do.“

Sadly, the ripple effects of the proposals are already being felt. We’re receiving reports of staff departures and increased reliance on bank cover unfamiliar with the unit, which risks continuity of specialist care.

We need action before more capacity is lost.

We are calling for a public engagement pack & timetable, clarity on how community evidence will be counted, a named contact, and a firm assurance of protected inpatient care at PRUH.
