Remembering Martin Piers Catchpole

17th August 1973 – 10th July 2023

Trustee Michael Douglas and his wife Danielle joined the family and friends of the Catchpole family mourning the loss and celebrating the life of beloved son, brother, uncle and great friend to many, Martin Piers Catchpole.

Every seat in the chapel was taken with many more people standing for a beautiful and appropriate tribute to Martin. Tributes from younger brother Philip and Martin’s mum, Pat, were particularly moving, and the service included a letter from Martin. Being a man who lived life to the full and with a great sense of humour, Martin elected to have a coffin made to look like a stick of dynamite ! Unfortunately this couldn’t be done but his humour brought a smile to many who were until then in tears.

Martin is now at rest, and in the hands of the almighty, and we wish the Catchpole family comfort through the difficult time ahead. Keith, Martin’s dad, and Pat have been patrons of The Chartwell Cancer Trust over many years, and we were honoured to receive donations in his memory.

The charity has a web page dedicated to remembering someone special, a wonderful and lasting way for loved ones to pay their respects no matter where they are. Personal online tribute funds can also be created.
