The House of Hygge Pop up Coffee Shop located next door to The CCT’s charity shop has been very well received among local residents and workers in the community. It has also been a welcoming environment for mums with young children to meet up because of its lovely spacious area that can accommodate prams and buggies.

Formerly part of an empty bathroom showroom, the shop has been completely transformed into an elegant and stylish place to relax, unwind and recharge. Offering fantastic coffee, free wifi and a selection of hot and cold beverages, home-made soups, cakes and hot and cold snacks – there is something for everyone.

Project Director Kadie Chanter is responsible for making this happen and worked tirelessly around the clock to prepare the House of Hygge in time for its official launch on Saturday 6th January.

Above the coffee shop, there is a newly furnished yoga studio run by supporters and patron Stillpoint Yoga London. Stillpoint Yoga thought it would be the perfect time to open the new studio on the same day of the opening of the House of Hygge and therefore decided to hold their annual remembrance yoga event in the new space instead of at their London premises.

Around 25 yoga practitioners came along for a day of Ashtanga yoga in memory of their friend and co-founder Ozge Karabiyik and in aid of The CCT. There were five teachers moving around to help guide everyone through the practice and Stillpoint London founder Scott Johnson delivered some touching words about why they come together at the beginning of each year.

After the workshop, the class headed downstairs to the House of Hygge for coffee and cake – no better way to put the new coffee skills to the test than taking all the different coffee orders of 25 yogis! It was a lovely atmosphere and a great way to finish off a wonderful day. Thank you to everyone that participated and especially the brilliant teachers who worked with the new space so well.

There are plans for further fundraising events over the next few months in the new studio and House of Hygge as well as workshops and classes, ticketed events, a Supper Club and family parties for The CCT’s childhood cancer support group.
