THE CHARTWELL CHARITIES NEWS

Champion 10K runners

On Sunday 9th July, a team of Chartwell runners united with thousands of others for an unforgettable experience in the sell-out ASICS London 10k 2023 event, the most iconic capital city 10k race.

The race around the city is flat and friendly, great for seasoned pros or beginners, and with a sea of spectators lining the streets, it is a site to behold! Live bands, DJs and cheering fans motivate runners along the route, past Westminster Bridge, The London Eye, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Big Ben.

Team Go Ahead and Team Countrywide have taken part before, in fact three times previously, and we were so pleased when they decided to dust off their trainers and join us again.

Huge congratulations to Countrywide’s James Arnold, for crossing the finish line in 1st place among the Chartwell team, an outstanding time of 00:50:23! Darren Jones also did exceptionally well securing a brilliant 00:55:59, and Tim Knight, a very respectable 01:09:30. Congratulations and thank you to Darren, James and Tim!

“It was a great morning and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Team Countrywide

Team Go Ahead had a much bigger team than ever flying our Chartwell flag. All of Team Go Ahead completed the route, achieving fantastic times ranging from 00:53:36 to 01:45:39. The first to cross the finish line for Team Go Ahead was Steve Orr, gaining 4th place among the Chartwell team. Peter Burke was not far behind and ran a great race in under an hour 00:57:45.

Thank you and well done to Team Go Ahead for keeping that Chartwell flag flying!

George and Charlotte Limpenny have run previously for Chartwell and had a very close, brilliant run between them. George finished 2nd  with  a superb time of 00:51:06 and Charlotte just 29 seconds behind securing a comfortable 3rd place within the Chartwell Team. Thank you and well done to you both!

“We are really pleased that we did The Chartwell Cancer Trust proud.”
Charlotte and George Limpenny

Jamie Walker and Charlotte Sisson

“It was an honour running for The CCT, thank you.”
Trudy Pearson

Some of the 10k Chartwell Charities team, Jamie Walker, Trudy Pearson, and Charlotte Sisson, all of them crossing the finish line in little over an hour, superb! Jamie: 01:01:46; Trudy 01:02:35; Charlotte 01:04:05.

“Thank you for all your support and I hope the money raised was able to help.”
Mia Olone

Mia Olone ran in support of The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust – a 10k first timer and a fantastic time of 01:24:16, despite a painful torn ligament and sheer determination, to reach the finish line! Well done Mia!

We are so proud of all you. Congratulations and thank you so much for collectively raising over £7,000 for The Chartwell Charities, a wonderful achievement!

The Asics London 2024 is planned for Sunday 14 July.  If you would like to take part please contact anna@chartwellcancertrust.co.uk or call 01959 570322 and we can book your charity place.
