THE CHARTWELL CHARITIES NEWS

Sixth Form students choose Chartwell Charities

When schools partner with us, it is not only a wonderful way for students to do something extra special, but they learn about the importance of giving back to those in need.  It’s a great opportunity to bring children, teachers and parents together to share a fun, fantastic and rewarding experience through teamwork and determination.

Chartwell’s Joanne Bennett was invited to attend Charles Darwin Secondary School last autumn where she demonstrated to sixth form students the AV1 No Isolation robot that allows young cancer and leukaemia patients access to their schooling during their treatment.

On seeing this inspirational, life-changing technology and learning of all the other oncology support services we provide for young cancer patients, the sixth form nominated us for the 2022/23 school year.

Jo has been working closely with the teachers and students who have been busy fundraising for Chartwell.  In December, they decorated pallet boxes for our 2022 Xmas Giving Appeal for The Glades, Bromley, where shoppers were invited to buy an extra Christmas gift for the children’s POSCUs we support.  18 students and 5 teachers climbed over The O2 in May and a charity fun run is in preparation.

“The students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the event, even those not keen on heights.  It was a warm sunny afternoon and the views from the viewing platform at the top were spectacular as it was such a clear, non-cloudy day!   The next event is planned during ‘Horizons’ week in July.”

The students set a target to raise £2,000 but that has already been reached thanks to the teachers and students for their amazing efforts.
