Prosecco Picnic raises over £3,000 for Chartwell

Thank you so much to Julie Dow for organising an Early Warning Prosecco Picnic in her garden for The Chartwell Cancer Trust on Saturday 23rd July, with over 40 family and friends in attendance.

On arrival, guests were greeted with a welcome drink of Prosecco, Pimms or Beer. Julie also charged £10 for a jug of Pimms, which she said went down extremely well.

During the afternoon, you could play bingo for £5 per card, with shots at the ready for any wrong calls, which Julie said was hilarious! There were various games to enjoy including guess the cuddly zebra’s name, giant jenga and pin the tail on the donkey, and even an honest box at the bar.

Julie’s son Luke, set up a shooting range at the bottom of their garden, which was very successful and safely organised! Julie also held a raffle and auction with some fantastic prizes donated by local businesses and restaurants. Luke, and his girlfriend Keely, were the auctioneers and did an excellent job.

Julie put so much effort into the day. She had decorated her garden with a fabulous balloon arch, used hay bales and pallets as tables, and her local Rugby Club kindly donated extra tables and chairs. Julie said: “Everyone has been so generous, and I was very humbled when the lady very kindly donated the cost of the hay bales back to me, after learning about my cancer journey story from my son.”

It was really an amazing and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and Julie’s picnic raised over an even more amazing £3,000 through online and donations on the day! Julie said: “My husband James, Luke and Keely, and my friends all helped me in various ways, and I could not have done it without them.”

Thank you to everyone who came in support of Julie and for giving so generously. More information on Julie’s journey and her brave battle with cancer can be found HERE
