THE CHARTWELL CHARITIES NEWS

Chartwell’s Croydon Charity shop closes it’s doors for good

We are sad to announce the closure of our Charity Shop in Croydon University Hospital.

Over the years, the generous support we received from loyal customers, hospital staff, and donors contributed so much towards the existing oncology support services we provide.

These include the provision of transportation to and from appointments for those too unwell to use public transport, delivering regular oncology family group meet-ups, funding the Isle of Wight Oncology Holiday Home, providing and maintaining our AV1 army of No Isolation robots, giving young patients remote access to their schooling, assisting families going through financial difficulty, and responding to staff-wish lists on the paediatric oncology shared care units and wards we support, in particular direct support to the oncology children treated in the children’s Rainbow Unit, Croydon Hospital.

The shop also played an integral role towards The CCT Lily Pad Charity appeal to raise £750,000 for the new oncology section in the Rainbow Unit, which we proudly achieved in May 2022.

We would like to give special thanks to our incredible volunteers, who selflessly dedicated their time – your efforts were the backbone of our operations, and we could not have done it without you.

We would also like to thank everyone who visited the shop and dropped in their donations so much for their support.

While the charity shop may be closing, we remain committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those facing the challenges of childhood cancer.
