The Glades Shopping Centre, Bromley has been incredibly busy fundraising and raising awareness for The CCT as part of their yearly support. We were especially delighted to have played such a major part in their Christmas Campaign where the shopping centre had over 11,000 visitors over the festive period.

The Christmas Campaign kicked off with the Christmas Lights Switch On and Parade on 19th November where we had lots of volunteers and staff bucket collecting, handing out leaflets, magazines and raising awareness.

On the 25th November, The Glades invited our oncology families to an exclusive visit to Santa’s Adventure Land Grotto. The children had a super time taking part in all the activities before meeting Father Christmas. Every child was given a present and photo as a keepsake. In addition, The Glades also donated some of the ticket sales proceeds to The CCT.

The Glades Giving Tree campaign was held in honour of The CCT. Shoppers bought many gifts which were donated to The CCT’s childhood cancer support groups and to the children’s cancer and paediatric wards at the hospitals we support.

We were invited to host our own Carol Singing performances in The Glades. On Saturday 3rd December, we had two wonderful performances from long-term supporters The Kentones and from the Pratts Bottom Church / Village Choir. The Bromley Parish Church (St Peter & Paul) Choir beautifully sang Christmas Carols on Saturday 10th December.  The shoppers loved them and dug deep to raise a phenomenal amount of money in what was such a short space of time.

On 21st December, we held our Christmas Wrapping Awareness Day where customers could have their gifts wrapped for a donation by our wonderful CCT volunteers who made all the gifts look extra special for Christmas.

Being part of The Glades Christmas Campaign has given us the opportunity to meet some wonderful shoppers and to inform so many people about the work we do.

Thank you to The Glades and its wonderful customers and staff who went above and beyond to show their kindness over the festive season. We will be reporting on The Glades fundraising overall in the next issue.
