Laptops and Lipstick

At the last Laptops and Lipstick meeting, an exciting new initiative was revealed under the new Chair Lindie called the ‘Laptops One Minute Cup’! A trophy is awarded to the best 60 second presentation at each meeting. We are delighted to report that The CCT’s very own Michelle Simpson won the first trophy award. Congratulations Michelle!

Thank you also to Laptops and Lipstick for their continued support.

Beckenham beer and cider festival

We were delighted to have been selected as the Charity of the Year for the Beckenham Beer and Cider Festival that took place between the 26th and 28th July. The event was organised by the Bromley Branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). All of our supporters were invited to join in the fun! Special thank you to David Apps, Group Trustee, for nominating us and for his continued support as always.

Oak Lodge Primary School

Oak Lodge Primary School, West Wickham had a brilliant Stars Wars theme at their Sumer Fete on Saturday 30th June. They were delighted to be joined by the 501st Garrison, who came along as Storm Troopers, Darth Vader and a Tie Pilot to support the school and help them bucket collect for The CCT.

Head Teacher, Matthew Apsley, was a great sport by having wet sponges thrown at him whilst in the stocks! The whole day was fantastic fun with a superb atmosphere. Thank you to everyone involved in making the fete such a resounding success.

‘Run or Dye’

Well done and congratulations to eight ladies Angela, Becky, Danielle, Di, Jan, Kim, Paula and Theresa and one guy Bill. They ran, walked and danced their way around the ‘Run or Dye’ – 5k at Penshurst Place, Kent on the 1st July 2018 in aid of The CCT. This is the second time they have taken part and we thank you for continuing to support us.

Talking Box Big ‘O’ Festival

The CCT attended the Talking Box Big ‘O’ Festival on Saturday 7th July as the chosen charity. This major vintage and retro festival celebrated ‘Suburbia through the decades’. There was everything from a 1940s tea dance to a retro gaming tent, and a classic car show as well as live music, DJ’s, exhibitors and exhibits, street food, and fun rides for the children. The family fun festival started with a parade of classic cars through Orpington High Street to the Priory Gardens. A very big thank you to all of the Big O Festival Team as it was a fabulous day. Thank you also to all our wonderful Volunteers who without them, events like this wouldn’t be possible.

Biggin Hill Festival Fair

At the Biggin Hill Festival Fair on Saturday 7th July, the Biggin Hill Evening WI held a raffle and sales stall for The Chartwell Cancer Trust. Despite the very hot weather and, of course, the football, they did very well raising an amazing £330.

A special thank you to WI member Hilary and Graham Figg, for manning the stall on behalf of The CCT and to Patron and WI member Margaret Day for making and donating her beautiful handmade quilt (with a little help from Hilary!), Myrtle Hooper, Evelyn Clark, Sherida Burgess and Sandra Batrick especially for the occasion and charity raffle.

Howdens Joinery Co, Biggin Hill

Howdens Joinery Co in Biggin Hill held their Annual Trade Day on 4th July and invited The CCT to join them which we did! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day and for giving us the opportunity to promote ourselves at your depot.

Tough Mudder London North

Congratulations Joanna and Adam Castle for their stirling effort in the Tough Mudder London North on Sunday 8th July. Joanna said: “It was really fun and hot but there wasn’t much mud!” Joanna and Adam have been supporting The CCT for a couple years, and thank you for continuing to support us.

Chislehurst Golf Club

Lady Captain Suzanne Doyle of Chislehurst Golf Club chose The CCT as the charity to support during her captaincy year. She held a ladies only open day as well as other fundraisers between March 2017 and March 2018. We were delighted to receive a cheque for almost £4,750.00 in July. Thank you Suzanne and to the Club for your support, which has been so greatly appreciated.
