It’s time for change in Croydon, it’s time for our children to have the facilities they deserve, it’s time for our Doctors, Nurses and their support staff to work in modern surroundings with the best equipment available to treat our unwell children, we’ve waited for long enough for government funding, it’s not coming, so let’s do it ourselves. Join the fundraising effort, teamwork makes the dream work! Our team will support you in every way we can if you wish to run your own event. If you support our campaign you will know in your heart that you have done something for children who can never repay you and, in the years ahead, each time you pass the hospital you will remember this and you will feel good about it, so, please call us or visit our little shop, I guarantee an enthusiastic response.

CCT’s Rachel Rogan met Anna and her team at the Co-op in South Croydon on Christmas Eve at Croydon University Hospital where they presented her with £545 raised through a raffle held in their store. They also brought goodie bags and flowers for the nurses, and some sweets for the children. Thank you to our lovely volunteer Jo for giving up her time to collect for the CCT Lily Pad Appeal at the Morrison’s Mitcham Store just before Christmas! Jo raised a wonderful £600! Thank you also to Morrisons and their shoppers for such wonderful generosity.

Thank you to Bond Bryan in Westerham for choosing The CCT Lily Pad Appeal as one of their chosen charities for 2018, following their support of The CCT as their chosen charity for 2017. We were delighted to have been chosen for another year, and what a busy one they had. For the launch they organised an Easter Raffle and Coffee & Cake Morning on the 28th March 2018. Then on 13th July 2018 they held their annual Summer BBQ, in a new venue, a local pub with a lovely large garden! The weather was wonderful and everyone enjoyed the food and drink provided.

Several activities were arranged to raise money, ending with a Bottle Auction. It was a lovely day out from the office! Bond Bryan’s Tricia Sheehan, mostly persuades other staff members to take part in various activities to raise money, she thought it was about time she did something herself, other than organise others. So on the 8th September 2018 she took on the challenge of participating in the Dragon Boat Race in Bewl Water Reservoir in Lamberhurst. Tricia had never done anything like this before, but was always up for a challenge nor minded getting wet! So donning a suitable Pirate outfit she joined the Chartwell team on The CCT Allsorts Boat. Tricia said that she had a really fun day, albeit quite strenuous during the three heats!

October saw six brave staff entering the Tonbridge Half Marathon – Rosie Barnes, Christina Burnie and hubby Chris, Jeff Stibbons, Aliresa Datoo and Dominic Whittaker. They are pleased to report that all six finished and, as you can see a couple were very pleased to have finished too! Well done everyone! The final activity was the Christmas Raffle, which they held on 20th December 2018. This involved raffling all manner of items donated by staff, combined with a buffet lunch also provided by the staff. A most enjoyable time was had by all and everyone got into the festive spirit by wearing their best Christmas Jumpers – as you can see! Bond Bryan’s 2018 target was to raise £500 but in fact, they achieved much more than that, in the region of £3,000! Congratulations and thank you so much for supporting our appeal. Overall, Bond Bryan has raised £8,000 for The Chartwell Cancer Trust, an amazing achievement.

Our Croydon Fundraising Team enjoyed a busy end to the year as the Christmas campaign for The Lily Pad Appeal gained momentum across the borough. There was a brilliant show of support from individuals and local businesses who all recognise the huge importance of this project to redevelop and modernise Paediatric Services for Croydon and ensure that the borough is able to treat and care for its seriously ill Cancer patients to the highest standards possible. Special thanks to:
