On Friday 13th April, it was a full house at Trustee Bobby Beech’s infamous charity gala evening, this time at Farleigh Golf Club in Warlingham. It was a fantastic night raising over £6,000 for The Chartwell Cancer Trust.
Friday the 13th might be unlucky for some but not those who attended Bobby’s charity gala evening at the wonderful venue, Farleigh Golf Club in Warlingham. We knew they were in for a fabulous night. Guests began to arrive in the welcoming reception area for pre-dinner drinks and were then called into the elegantly decorated dining room, greeted by Bobby and entertainer for the evening, Mr Fil Straughan aka Luther Vandross.
Just before dinner, Bobby welcomed all the guests. She talked about the work of The Chartwell Cancer Trust as well as the itinerary of the night’s proceedings which included a mobile phone raffle, heads and tails game and a silent auction. During dinner, Fil sung his way around every table, bringing out some, let’s just say, interesting vocal talent and it wasn’t long before people were on their feet on the dance floor, some even before dessert! The dance floor was full most of the night – it was impossible not to be with the extremely charismatic Fil Straughan entertaining us all the way!
The fundraising support and generosity was amazing. The Silent Auction was a huge success, with a range of items to suit all potential bidders including a luxury villa in Gran Canaria, an apartment in Turkey, a stunning portrait on canvas of John Lennon, painted by a supporter, and a signed Ronaldinho Shirt.
An enormous thank you to everyone who attended, the wonderful people who donated to the auction, to
Bobby for organising yet another fantastic event and to Farleigh Golf Club for ensuring it was such a special evening.
