Direct Line have been on-going supporters of The CCT and CCT Tiger Ward since 2015. They have held annual Christmas Raffles, Static Box Collections, Easter egg donations, and Quiz Nights. In addition, many of their staff have participated in our team events, and in particular, our team tandem skydives. Direct Line also attended our Glades Awareness Week in May; they brought along Churchill the Dog to the delight of many of our young supporters and had volunteers helping for the day. To date, they have collectively raised over £17,000, a fantastic achievement of which we are very grateful.
Mytime have been busy working with The CCT. We were invited to attend their “Bromley Girls” Event at The Pavilion Leisure Centre on 20th May. The event was aimed at women and girls over 16 with the aim of getting them more active and to try something new, including soccercise, boxing, Zumba and yoga! We had a stand in the foyer where most of the activities took place, which gave us a great opportunity to promote awareness of The CCT. It was a fantastic event with over 500 women attending and we were pleased to have been a part of it. Mytime also came to our Glades Awareness Week, with volunteers and “Beat the Pro” activities laid on for the day, and we are making use of their wonderful facilities that have been offered to us for our childhood cancer support groups when we can!
Thank you to Michelle Harvey and her team at Westcombe Rugby Club for supporting us once again at their Ladies Day on 1st April. Group Trustee Paula Cook told us what a fantastic day it was, in particular the Prosecco Tent, which proved to be incredibly popular! Thank you to Emma for organising an Arts and Crafts Shopping Evening, Raffle and Pottery Party at her Pottery Parlour in West Wickham to help support the childhood cancer support groups we organise on a monthly basis for children and families going through treatment or post treatment for cancer or leukaemia.
Thank you to the Polhill WI District Conference for allowing Michelle Simpson to attend their meeting on 29th June to talk about the work of The CCT, and for the wonderful donations we received from the purchase of our Charlie Chartwell teddies and Bags for Life.
Congratulations to Irene Whelan on the success of her “Drink, Dance and Donate” evening at Chislehurst Golf Club on 24th June. The event was in support of The Chartwell Cancer Trust and Centre Pieces Art. Irene and her colleagues clearly worked hard to bring together such lovely people who donated so generously to raise over £6,500 split between both charities. The “works of art” were brilliant and incredibly talented! Bon Bonnie DJ’s Martin Cee and Scottie Anderson donated their time and played some amazing tunes, which kept everyone on the dance floor all night! This event certainly put the fun into fundraising! Thank you so much for supporting The CCT once again which is so greatly appreciated.
Congratulations also to Angela, Becky, Danielle, Di, Jan, Kim, Louise, Paula, Theresa and Bill who ran, walked and danced their way around the ‘Run or Dye’ – 5k at Penshurst Place on the 2nd July 2017.
Not only was the run in support of The CCT it was also a celebration for Theresa reaching her five-year anniversary since her cancer diagnosis and ‘smashing it!’ We are so pleased you are able to celebrate your journey with such great family and friends, and thank you to them all for choosing us.
GOOD LUCK Laura Kirby and her six friends who are taking on the 24-hour 3 Peaks Challenge on Saturday 29th July, which involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowden, the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. Laura is fundraising for The CCT; her grandad is being treated in the Chartwell Unit. Thank you Laura for choosing to support us and we wish you and your friends the very best of luck!
