We were delighted to host our very first King’s Childhood Cancer Support Group meet up for our King’s Teenagers on Saturday 22nd September. It was a fun and informal, skincare and make-up workshop organised by ‘Look Good Feel Better’, a charity that specialises in offering practical advice to help people manage the side effects of cancer treatment. Everyone was given a goody bag when they arrived, which contained an abundance of skincare and make-up products to use during the session, which they also got to take home. The Look Good Feel Better team demonstrated how to create the perfect make-over and the group got to practice and experiment on themselves asking questions as they went along.
It was a lovely afternoon in a relaxed, informal setting and also a good opportunity for everyone to chat and get to know each other. It was a great success and we will be looking to hosting future workshops on a regular basis.
Thank you to Look Good Feel Better, to Kathryn Hair and the Macmillan Centre at King’s College Hospital for allowing us use of their room. For more information on Look Good Feel Better workshops and where they are held please visit www.lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk.
Plans are on-going for the makeover of the cubicles, playroom and much needed medical equipment on the children’s Paediatric Oncology Shared Unit (POSCU), King’s College Hospital.
